Arlington Wrestling Club (AWC) Information.
AWC is the feeder program for the Arlington High School wrestling team. We practice at Arlington High School, and compete in both USAW and AAU events in Tennessee and neighboring states. AWC was established in the fall of 2008 and is the local youth wrestling club for Pre-K through 8th grader in Arlington, Lakeland and surrounding areas.
AWC’s mission is:
1. Serve as a development program for the AHS Wrestling program
2. Promote youth wrestling awareness in Arlington and surrounding communities
3. Develop mentally strong and physically fit athletes
Our club offers a competitive youth wrestling program that instills participants with the ideals of hard work, sportsmanship, and respect. Competitions are primarily on Saturdays with several tournaments in the Memphis area. Organized travel opportunities are available for tournaments throughout Tennessee and the mid south.
Our coaches have a combined 100+ years of wrestling and coaching experience from across the country; including the states of Missouri, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, South Carolina, W. Virginia, Illinois and Tennessee.
Why Wrestle?
· Opportunity to compete with an opponent your child’s age and size
· Wrestling requires agility, coordination, strength, and mental toughness.
· Wrestling teaches self-reliance; the ability to make things happen on your own.
· Wrestling is one of the original sports in the ancient Olympic Games.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Charter
AWC is chartered through USA Wrestling, the national governing body of amateur wrestling AND AAU.
Practices
Held at Arlington High School gymnasium and wrestling facility, practices are held two to three times a week in the evenings from six to eight pm (varies by age).
Competitions
Competitions take place in the form of dual meets, individual and dual tournaments. The schedule tab shows a tentative schedule for these activities as well as outlines which are for beginners, advanced and girls. Dual meets are generally scheduled on weeknights between 6 and 9 pm. Typically we will wrestle one event per week but some weeks will contain both a dual meet and a tournament. Most competitions will take place within Shelby County but there are several events that will require travel for some wrestlers outside the local area.
Travel
AWC will attend tournaments throughout Tennessee and may attend tournaments in Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, Alabama and other surrounding states. Overnight travel will normally take place on Fridays with competitions occurring on Saturdays, some on Sundays. Parents have the option and will receive detailed communications through our team app.
